White Labelling MX Records

Learn how to white-label MX records using your own domain for branded DNS configurations.
White-labeled MX records are available exclusively on our ImprovMX Enterprise plans.

White-labeling lets you use your own branded MX records (e.g., mx1.piedpiper.com) instead of the default ImprovMX records (mx1.improvmx.com). Normally, a domain like customer.com would use mx1.improvmx.com as its MX record. With white-labeling, you supply a white-label domain (e.g., piedpiper.com), so the MX record becomes mx1.piedpiper.com. This is useful if you're reselling email forwarding services or want all your public DNS records to be consistently branded. It's a cosmetic change only - forwarding will function exactly the same.

Instructions

In the ImprovMX dashboard for your custom domain (e.g., customer.com), go to the Custom Settings tab -> Whitelist Settings → Enter your white-label domain (e.g., piedpiper.com).

Add CNAME records shown into domain registrars DNS settings.

In the DNS Settings for customer.com, apply the provided white-labeled MX and SPF records into the domain registrars DNS settings instead of the default ImprovMX records.

That's it! You can now use your own branded MX records for a fully white-labeled experience.
